The charismatic Mickey Charles, President and CEO of realtime sports wire service The Sports Network, will provide the afternoon opening keynote address, drawing on his wealth of expertise in the digital sports marketplace. Based in Philadelphia in the USA , Charles is an attorney by training, has previously owned an advertising agency and was responsible for introducing a sports premium rate phone service to the USA .
Charles has also been a syndicated columnist, radio talk show host for CBS (sports), a TV host for a sports talk show for ESPN (hosted by Caesars Palace in Las Vegas ) and was the founder of Computer Information Network, Inc. The Sports Network has become a dominant force on the internet as both a source for information and as the branding arm for sports pages on more sites worldwide than any other company. Charles will address the audience on the subject: ‘How has digital technology improved sport?’
In addition to illuminating keynote addresses, Sport and Technology: The Conference 2007 will include panel discussions on â€˜Convergenceâ€™, â€˜Protecting Digital Assets and the Rise of Social Networking Sitesâ€™, â€˜Venues as Television Studiosâ€™ and â€˜Technology versus Refereesâ€™, thus continuing to present areas of importance to both rights owners and technology companies.
